Experience "Home Values" Installation At The Burchfield Penny's Annual "Stay Gold" Community Art Pary
Happy New Year, hope you have been safe and well in the last few months. A lot has been going on since my last show in August with me, my artwork, and my architecture practice. We need to get a chai and catch up; I mean it; text me. One of the most exciting things I want to announce is that the Burchfield Penny invited me to share some work with you at this year's Stay Gold event. There will be art, music, cash bar. There's a little more about my project "Home Value" down below; more importantly, it's an art party.

Experience special art installations and live music performances throughout the Center. Explore the galleries, participate in all-ages art-making, and more! Work exploring the rootlessness caused by housing inequities. What makes a "Home" when, like myself and many African American women, struggle to own a home or even rent and keep an apartment? This new work includes my "Apartment Installation," sketches and prints from my "Home and Other Horizons" series, and an interactive "Housing Values" card game. What does home mean to you?

Home and Other Horizons @ Pushy Art Gallery Show Closing Reception
The "Home and Other Horizons," Watercolor series has meant so much to me since I started working on these paintings during the isolation of the Covid-19 Pandemic. So much so, that it took me a while to be willing to part with some of the original images. Luckily my dear friend Lola convinced me that it would be good to share what brought me happiness during a dark time for many of us. So with abundance and joy, I invite you to share work and a little end-of-summer celebration at the show closing reception this Friday.

If you've been following my #artgirlsummer you know that I've been selling prints and drawings at festivals in Buffalo and Pittsburgh this year. However, this is the first time I've released any original paintings from this series. The work in this collection, "Home And Other Horizons," started as a way to keep sane during the "stay at home orders" of 2020 but has grown and intertwined with my architecture practice to explore what it means to be at home.
