Invited Architects and Design Teams Register:

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC NY), AIA Buffalo/WNY Emerging Professionals, and the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Architecture and Planning invite teams of up to five people from local architectural firms to participate in a two-day modular housing competition. The competition—starting with an evening kickoff panel on Friday, October 21, and continuing with an all-day competition on Saturday, October 22—asks local designers to imagine how modular housing can be made more inclusive, sustainable, and cost-effective to address the housing crisis of Western New York. Sign up today to help create single-family affordable modular homes of the future. Win Cash Prizes and Bragging Rights!

Architecture firms participating in the competition will be eligible for continuing education (pending AIA approval), cash awards, and recognition in press releases to local news outlets. Food and drink will be provided at the event, and students from the UB Department of Architecture will be paired with design teams to help teams prepare their proposals.

After the event, LISC and UB will evaluate the proposals with the goal of building one of the designs in 2023/2024. Although competition submissions will become the property of LISC, winning firms may be engaged at a later date to develop construction documents and/or supervise construction.
